A few days ago I posted a drabble as my response to this week's prompt at [livejournal.com profile] drabylon. Someone mentioned I should write a sequel to that drabble, and I decided to do just that. So here is first the drabble, and then the sequel :)

Title: SOS
Fandom: Queer as Folk
Characters/Pairing: Brian/Justin
Timeline: A few weeks after 513
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100 words

Author's Notes: Originally posted at [livejournal.com profile] drabylon for this prompt:

SOS

”Sunshine, you have to come home.”

“Why?”

“Because Emmett’s got this idea in his head that he and I should hang out because ‘we’ve both lost someone we love’.”

“You haven’t lost me.”

“Well, Emmett thinks I have. He keeps coming over with movies and ice cream!”

“That must be hard for you. But you could just ask me to visit instead of using Emmett as an excuse, you know.”

“It’s not an excuse.”

“Lucky for you, I’m already planning on visiting this weekend. That is, if you’re not too busy watching movies with Emmett.”

“I’ll book you a flight.”

THE END

Title: The Rescue (sequel to "SOS")
Fandom: Queer as Folk
Characters/Pairing: Brian/Justin, Emmett
Timeline: Set a few days after "SOS"
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1,535 words
Warnings: A very emotional Emmett ;)
Summary: “It’s a fucking movie, Emmett. Get a grip.”
Disclaimer: Unfortunately, I don't own these characters.

Author's Notes: Non-beta'ed, because I wanted to get it up today.

Written for [livejournal.com profile] starlightbj, who kindly asked for a sequel to my drabble "SOS" :)

THE RESCUE

“It’s so beautiful.” Emmett sniffled as he wiped his damp eyes with a paper towel and watched the movie’s closing credits roll over the TV screen. “Their love is so strong, they can survive anything as long as they are together.” He sniffled again, and grabbed another paper towel from the box on the table.

Brian shot him a glare from the other end of the couch. “It’s a fucking movie, Emmett. Get a grip.”

He couldn’t believe he had actually sat through the whole movie. If not for the fact that he expected Justin to arrive any minute now, he would have been off to Babylon or Woody’s hours ago. There were only so many of Emmett’s movie-and-ice-cream-nights he could take, and during the last couple of weeks he had suffered himself through enough of them to last a lifetime.

He hadn’t even been able to use picking Justin up at the airport as an excuse to get away. Of course his car’s engine had chosen this particular day to start acting up, so Brian was forced to leave the car at a garage after work to get it fixed. So basically, he was stuck at the loft. With Emmett, and his choice of movie for the night.

Brian hadn’t been paying much attention to the movie though. It was some sort of romantic crap, with big words and roses and undying love. According to Emmett, they should now start to move on from their grieving phase and learn to accept the situation, and a romantic drama was exactly what they both needed to prove to themselves and the world that they were strong and dealing with their break-ups. Brian couldn’t make any sense of that reasoning at all. And he didn’t feel any need to ‘grieve’ or ‘move on’ or ‘deal with the situation’. Justin had moved to New York, not the moon. Nothing had changed between them, even though the ‘family’ seemed to think that calling off a wedding was equal to breaking up. Well, they could believe whatever the fuck they wanted. It was none of their business anyway.

Speaking of Justin, where was he? He should have been here by now. Emmett didn’t know that though. Brian had chosen to leave out that little bit of information. He had a feeling that if Emmett knew about Justin coming, he would insist on giving Justin a ‘proper welcome’ and Brian was not about to have the family invade his loft.

Tonight, it was him and Justin only. No family. No friends. Just them.

If only he could get Emmett out of the loft soon. Brian had hoped that Emmett would leave before Justin arrived, but the movie had been longer than he expected and Justin was probably just around the corner now.

The movie had been utter bullshit, and instead of following what happened on the screen, Brian had found himself thinking about all the things he was going to do with Justin the next couple of days. And nights. He was planning on some long, hard hours. He sure hoped Justin was ready for it.

He grinned. When was Justin ever not ready?

“You know, you remind me of my Drewsie”, he suddenly heard Emmett say, the sound of his voice pulling Brian out of his thoughts. “He didn’t like this movie either. But what’s not to like? It’s so adorable.”

“I thought Drew wasn’t ‘your Drewsie’ anymore,” Brian commented dryly, causing a new flood of tears from Emmett. He let out a sigh and silently praised himself for having so much patience.

“He just wasn’t ready”, Emmett said, as he added another paper towel to the pile of used towels on the table. ”I’ve always believed in that saying, you know the one, it goes something like If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they’re yours, if they don’t it was never meant to be. Isn’t that just beautiful?”

“Yes, beautiful”, Brian muttered, having no idea what Emmett was going on about. He rose from the couch and went to pour himself a glass of whiskey. He sure needed it.

“Do you want some more ice cream?” Emmett asked from the couch, as Brian found the whiskey bottle and set it down on the kitchen counter while he went to retrieve a glass. Emmett had, like several times before, brought a big tub of ice cream with him over to the loft. The almost empty tub was now standing on the coffee table, containing liquid rather than ice cream, with one used and one unused spoon next to it.

“You can have it”, Brian said, after swallowing the whiskey and putting the now empty glass down on the counter. “And once you’re done, it’s time for you to go home.” He really couldn’t get Emmett out of his loft fast enough.

“You know Brian, you really shouldn’t spend so much time alone right now”, Emmett said as he used his spoon to get the last remaining contents out of the ice cream tub. “I know how hard it must be for you without Justin.”

Brian glared at him. “As I’ve told you before, I’m doing just fine. In fact, I couldn’t be better.” Well, maybe in a few hours, when he finally had Justin back in bed with him, he thought to himself, grinning inwardly.

“Oh honey, you don’t have to be brave with me. I know better than anyone-“

“Emmett, can you please just eat the ice cream and then get the hell out of my loft?” Brian said firmly, with a voice that didn’t leave much room for negotiation. The two men stared at each other for a few seconds, and then Emmett slowly nodded, seeming to finally get the message. Brian turned and walked a few restless steps around the room, but just then the loft’s big metal door rolled open, and Justin stepped inside, a huge smile on his face which grew even bigger once his eyes fell on Brian.

“You’re late”, Brian commented as he walked over to greet Justin, who in turn made a few bouncing steps towards Brian.

“Yeah, I know, I had to wait a while before I was able to get a cab”, Justin said, smile still in place as he met Brian in the middle of the loft. “Did you miss me?”

“You have no idea”, Brian mumbled quietly so only Justin could hear him. He wrapped his arms around Justin and pulled him close, kissing him deep enough and long enough for Justin to understand exactly how much he had been missed.

When they finally pulled apart, Brian once again heard the sound of sniffling behind him. “Not again”, he muttered and with his arms still around Justin he turned towards Emmett who was looking back at him with watery eyes.

“What the fuck is the problem this time?” he asked, no longer able to keep the impatience out of his voice.

“It’s meant to be”, Emmett sniffled as he looked at the two men in front of him. “He came back to you.” A watery smile broke out on his face as he walked over to Justin, hugging him. “Oh baby,” he said, holding on to Justin, who hugged him back while sending Brian a confused look over Emmett’s shoulder. Brian just shrugged.

Finally Emmett let Justin go, and wiped his eyes, which were now red and puffy. His gaze moved from Justin to Brian, and then back to Justin.

“I will keep all the million questions I have to myself – for now – and leave you two to... rekindle”, he said, winking at them. He got his jacket and put the DVD he and Brian had watched into his bag, and with a little wave and a smile he left the loft, rolling the door shut behind him.

“What the fuck was that about?” Justin asked, turning to Brian. “I know you told me Emmett comes over a lot, but... He looked like he had been crying for hours. Is it Drew again?”

“Please, no more Drew,” Brian groaned. “I don’t ever want to hear that name again.”

Justin laughed a little. “That bad, huh? Well, it’s a good thing I came to your rescue then”, he whispered and grinned, as he stood on his tiptoes and gave Brian another kiss on the lips, wrapping his arms around Brian’s neck.

“Mmm, and not a moment too soon. I never thought I’d get rid of him. Hopefully seeing you here will stop him from coming over again.”

He hid his face in Justin’s neck for moment, taking in the younger man’s scent. There was something so very unique about that scent, something almost soothing. Something he missed when he couldn’t have it, and never got enough of when he could. It was home.

After a few seconds of losing himself in Justin, he lifted his head again and met Justin’s eyes. He arched an eyebrow and motioned towards the room at other side of the loft. He had been waiting long enough, and he suspected Justin felt the same. “Ready?”

“Always”, Justin grinned, and Brian took his hand and pulled him towards the bedroom.

THE END

Hope you like! :)

This was just wonderful, sweetie! Brian and Justin reuniting was adorable and I just wanted to hug Emmett through the whole sequel.

Lol, I think Brian would have been able to get rid of Emmett by himself if he *really* had wanted to ;)

I know, poor Emmett :( I'm definitely rooting for him and Drew to get back together, but in this fic I unfortunately had to let him suffer a little.

Lol, yes definitely. Brian is always bitching and complaining about things without really meaning it ;) I can see him getting enough of Emmett after a while, but I also think he enjoys the company :)

Thank you so much! :)

*hugs you tightly*

This was the perfect sequel to SOS. And you wrote it so quickly. You got Emmett so perfectly - he made me laugh. (Obviously you got B/J perfectly too).

Brian's impatience at Em was hilarious. Em trying to 'bond' with Brian was so sweet.

Loved it a lot. Thank you!

Aww, I'm so glad you liked it! I sort of surprised myself with how quickly I wrote it (because normally it takes forever for me to write something), but once I started it I was suddenly super-inspired and I didn't really stop until it was finished :)

I'm glad you liked my Emmett, because I think I may have written him a little over the top (even for him, lol), but he was a lot of fun to write :)

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it :D

OMG that was better than the drabble.

"What the fuck is the problem this time?” he asked, no longer able to keep the impatience out of his voice." you got him down to a tee with that one.

i love that you portrayed the fact that Brian and Justin's relationship didnt change or deteriorate any just because he moved to new york... it was perfect
(and god knows i needed the reassurance too :( -> :) )

From: [identity profile] moongirl24.livejournal.com
Aww, I'm glad I could give you some reassurance ;) IMO Brian and Justin's relationship didn't change when Justin moved (apart from the distance thing), and they definitely didn't break up. It was just another challenge they had to face and I'm sure it only made them stronger :)

Thank you, I'm very happy you liked the story :)

Yes exactly, NYC really isn't that far away from Pittsburgh, so IMO Brian and Justin are able to handle that just fine :) I'm glad you liked the story and that it made you happy - that makes me happy too :)
